A Glimpse of Mrs. Spencer...

Today I am known as Emily Gale Spencer, wife to John Spencer, but I have not always been a Spencer. For the first twenty one years of my life I was known as Emily Gale Smith, daughter of Frank and Rebecca, and sister to Hutch and Zac. I was born in Columbus, GA, moved with my family to LaGrange, GA the summer before I started fourth grade and stayed until I was named a graduate of LaGrange High School. During my time at LHS, I was a member of the LHS Volleyball Team, editor of the Yearbook Staff, enrolled in the Advanced Placement Program, and a tutor for our local Community in Schools. After I graduated from LHS, I placed my life in LaGrange on pause, and moved into North Georgia College and State University as a college freshman. At that point in my life, I had no clue of the journey I would embark on, but reflecting on these past five years, I would not have changed one detail. My journey through the last five years combined with the wonderful years I spent at home surrounded by family were vital in the forming of who I am today.
Currently, I am a wife to a Music Minister, called to be a part of the work of God’s kingdom, and committed member to the world of education. I am determined to be a victorious classroom teacher; one who inspires children to succeed not only at school but in life. I will ensure my students, no matter their socioeconomic level, race, or age are given the opportunity to succeed in my classroom and given the tools needed to succeed in the world beyond Room 102. Thankfully, I was raised in a community of people who encouraged me to reach my highest potential. Mediocrity was never an option. I vow to work unending hours creating differentiated lessons, creating an environment of acceptance where one is welcomed to be an individual, and to give my students a taste of a community where they are surrounded by people who encourage and expect their achievement. I am beyond thankful for the culture I was raised in; one that valued God, family, education, and community. My first 23years have forever shaped the woman I am today and the type of educator I aspire to become. Sucess will be experienced by all of the students in Room 102!

-William Arthur Ward-
